Beth Tweddle. Gymnast
"Gymnastics is in my blood, I love it. There are hard days where I think ‘I hate my coach, what’s she doing to me?’ But I still walk into the gym voluntarily every day. I just have to remember what it felt like to win the world title at the O2, and competing at a home Games is going to feel a million times better."

"I’m one of eight children and when I go home we never talk about athletics. It helps you realise that there’s a lot more to the world than running around in circles!"

Sarah Storey. Paralympic Cyclist
"I’m a Paralympian through and through, but I love the new challenge of training to be selected for the Olympics too. Racing [as an able-bodied cyclist] at the Commonwealth Games was fantastic, and another milestone ticked off."
Sarah aims to become the first British athlete to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Perri Shakes-Drayton. Hurdler.
“I train with 20 other athletes, mostly guys, which is a great motivator. I’ll spend my winter laying the foundations for 2012 with my coach. He’s been with me since I was at grassroots level, so he knows exactly what makes me tick. My Olympic goal is to make the final; once you’re in the final, anything can happen”

Heather Fell. Pentathlete.
"I probably spend more time getting changed than exercising. I’m in my gym clothes, then my riding gear, then back into tracksuit bottoms, then my fencing kit - if there was an Olympic medal on offer for changing, I’d definitely be the one to watch!"

“I thrive on pressure so my season doesn’t really get going until I’ve got my GB vest on and I’m stepping out in front of a big crowd. It’s not long until the biggest show of our lives - and I can’t wait! Your life as an athlete doesn’t last forever so I’m determined to make the most of every moment”
